Linda Wilson Obituary

Linda S. Wilson, 83, of South St. Louis, formerly of Greenville, passed away Thursday, March 5, in Arnold, MO. She was born in Neelyville, MO, October 15, 1942, to parents John and Thelma (Spencer) Franklin. She grew up with a strong sense of family and faith that remained central throughout her life.

Linda was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who devoted much of her life to caring for others. She married Cecil W. Wilson, March 26, 1960, and they were blessed with three children.

For more than thirty years, Linda worked in food service, serving students and staff at Maryville University in St. Louis, St. Louis University, and the St. Louis Hill Retirement Home. She also spent time cooking for Ingram Barge. Through her work and warm spirit, she touched the lives of many.

Linda had a creative heart and spent countless hours painting and writing. She enjoyed creating short plays, short stories, and poetry. One of her proud accomplishments was writing a book of poetry that is now preserved in the Library of Congress. In her free time, she loved tending to her garden and fishing for Crappie at Lake Wappapello.

A woman of faith, Linda was of the Baptist faith and was a past member of Kime General Baptist Church. She also gave generously of her time, volunteering for several years at Jonah’s Closet and the Food Pantry.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of fifty-five years, brother, William Franklin, and her sister, Barbara Gatewood.

Linda is survived by her children, Brian Wilson of Barnhart, Vikki Meyers and husband Earl of Troy, IL, and Karen Jones and husband Jamie of Havelock, NC; as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Linda will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 10, 2026, from 10:00 am until funeral time at 11:00. This will be at Ruegg Funeral Home, Greenville, MO. Burial will follow at Greenville Cemetery. Online condolences can be made at www.rueggfuneralhomes.com
