Lois Jean Hill, 75, of Ironton, MO passed away Monday, November 14, 2022, at Baptist Homes of Arcadia Valley in Ironton, MO. She was born September 16. 1947, in Mill Spring, MO, to parents David Hill Sr. and Hazel Marie (Laxton) Hill.
Lois was the 4th of 10 children and at a young age she had the responsibility of taking care of her younger siblings in the summers while their mom and dad worked. She always called herself the "straw boss" of the family. Lois attended 12 years of school at Annapolis and graduated in 1965. After graduation, at the age of 17, Lois moved to Los Angeles, California. There she lived and worked for many years for companies including Honeywell and Xerox. Lois loved to have fun and travel. She had traveled to England, Israel, and Egypt. After retirement, Lois went back to school to become a certified plumber. Lois was a loving daughter and sister; she was willing to help her family any way she could. She was a frugal person for herself but when it came to others, she was generous. Lois was a humorous lady who was a good friend to many. She was very spiritual and had a full life of church. The last ten years were hard on her with numerous health problems, but now she is no longer suffering.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers: Richard and David Hill; sister: Karen Hopkins; sister-in-laws: Judy Hill and Sue Hill; brother-in-law: Leonard Carol.
Lois is survived by her brother: Thomas and his wife Brenda Hill of Piedmont, MO; sisters: Willi Caro of Farmington, MO, Cathy Hill and her companion Joseph Stamper of Garden City, MO, Mary Jennings of Potosi, MO, Joan and her husband Robert Campbell of Annapolis, MO, and Shelia and her husband Anthony Ruble of Vulcan, MO; and a host of nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Visitation was held at 9:00 am, on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont Chapel. Funeral service followed at 10:30 am, also in the Piedmont Chapel. Pastor Dan Pitchers ministered to the family. Mike Jennings, AJ Jennings, Evan Hopkins, Danny Griffin, Camille Campbell, Ryan Hopkins, Gracelyn Andrews, and Sarah Andrews severed as pallbearers.
