Louise Middleton, 92, of Bismarck, MO, passed away at her residence Saturday, May 16, 2026. She was born December 16, 1933, in Riverside, MO, to parents James “Lum” Columbus and Francis “Dolly” (Worley) Sutton.
Louise was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She married the love of her life, Robert Eugene Middleton, July 23, 1955. They were blessed with four children. Louise spent most of her adult life in Granite City, IL, where she built a life centered around faith, family, and hard work.
After more than thirty years of dedicated service, Louise retired as an Inspector from Continental Can Company. She was known for her strong work ethic, caring spirit, and unwavering devotion to those she loved. After retirement, she lived in Vulcan, MO, and finally settling in Bismark, MO.
Louise found joy in the simple blessings of life. She enjoyed sewing quilts, tending to her garden, and traveling to some of her favorite destinations, including South Dakota, Eureka Springs, and the Smoky Mountains. A devoted Christian, Louise faithfully served in her church nursery for many years, where she lovingly cared for countless children. Her nurturing nature extended far beyond the church walls, as she cherished caring for her family, especially her beloved grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of forty-seven years; brothers, Ervin, Earl, Elva, Vernon, and Delmar Sutton; and sisters: Blanche Cross, Bertha Kimes, Floy Kirchner, Dymple Reeder, and Eileen Middleton.
Louise is survived by her children, Darrell Robert Middleton and wife Wanda, Randy Middleton, Lesa Dixon and husband Mark, and Dawna McBroom and husband Troy; grandchildren, Jason, Nathan, Candice, Justen, Czander Middleton, Logan and Jared Grant, Sarah Fry, Megan Pitterly, and Rachel Clark; great-grandchildren: Austin, Rose, Blake, Dakoda, Gavin, Zach, Ean, Lyric, Bethany, Jacoby, Emalee, Landyn, Chloe, Liam, Teagan, Boston, Lela, Allen, Zander, Amelia, Payton, Bryson, Sydney; great-great-grandchildren: Mia, Mason, Cam, August, Carmine, and Tommy; as well as many nieces, nephews.
Louise will be remembered for her gentle heart, steadfast faith, and the love she so freely gave to everyone around her. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Visitation was held at 10:00 am, Friday, May 22, 2026, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont Chapel. Funeral service followed at 1:00 pm, also in the Piedmont Chapel. Pastor Dwight Jones ministered to the family. Dakoda Middleton, Zachary Jolly, Logan Grant, Jared Grant, Boston Kendrick, and Allen Kendrick served as pallbearers. Zander Clark, Gavin Jolly, Blake Middleton, Jacoby Middleton, Czander Middleton, and Austin Middleton served as honorary pallbearers.
