Margaret E. Brooks, 96, of Patterson, MO, passed away on Sunday, August 15, 2021, at Clark’s Mountain Nursing Center. She was born on August 21, 1924, in Piedmont, MO, to parents Jesse and Leona (Wilson) Mabury.

She lived in Kansas City for many years and returned to Wayne County after she retired. Margaret taught elementary school in Kansas City for twenty-seven years and then enjoyed working as a cook on a tugboat for several years. She loved working in her yard and tending to her beautiful iris and daylily flower beds. She also loved to read, play bridge, and made many beautiful quilts that her family will treasure.

Margaret is survived by her children, Charles R. Brooks (Angie), Joe Brooks (Irene) and Sarah (Brooks) Neuwirth. Also surviving are twelve grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her sons, William P. Brooks and Ronald G. Brooks. Margaret will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
