Marie Edwina Vann, 84, of Ocala, FL, formerly of Piedmont, MO, passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at Cornerstone Hospice House in The Villages, Florida. She was born in St. Louis, MO, on January 12, 1942, to Edwin Bural Thurman and Joan (Davenport) Thurman, whom she deeply loved and adored throughout her life.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a cherished friend who will be remembered for her warmth, strength, and generous spirit. A successful and driven entrepreneur, Marie owned and operated an Angus cattle farm, an ostrich farm, and worked as a real estate developer, among other ventures. She took great pride in her work and was especially passionate about remodeling historical homes. In her free time, she enjoyed fishing, pottery, painting, and old movies, especially old British movies. Marie was excellent at genealogy as well. Marie was a beautiful person inside and out and most of all, enjoyed spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her daughter: Rochelle “Rachel” Tebyani of Ocala, FL; grandchild: Dane Tebyani of MS; great-grandchildren, Tim and Joshua Howell and a host of friends.
Marie will be greatly missed by her family and friends, who will cherish her memory always.
Visitation was held at 11:00 am, Friday, February 6, 2026, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont Chapel. Funeral service followed at 1:00 pm, also in the Piedmont Chapel. Father Dan Hirtz ministered to the family. Rochelle Tebyani, Ed Thurman, Tammy Thurman, Father Dan Hirtz, Robert Christman, Wayne Shackelford, and Don Duckett served as pallbearers.
