Marline Elizabeth Bennett, 85, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2020, at Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis, MO. She was born on April 28, 1935, in Gideon, MO, to parents Raymond Skidmore and Ruth (Suttles) Strickland. Marline was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She met the love of her life, Elijah Bennett, and they married on October 6, 1951. To this union three children were born. Marline was the secretary of their family business for many years. She enjoyed cooking, trying new recipes, going to rummage sales, fishing and quilting. She was an avid reader, appreciated singing and loved her church and church family. Marline had a deep affection to being a grandmother. She was not only grandma to her own grandchildren but to any child she met. Marline’s greatest joy was her family. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one brother, Paul Skidmore, one sister Louise. Marline is survived by her loving husband of sixty-eight years; her children: Tim Bennett and wife Patricia of Imperial, Brinda Androvandi of Sesser, IL, Linda Westberry and husband Ernie of Homestead, FL; eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; her brothers: Richard Skidmore, Kenny Strickland, Gary Strickland; her sisters: Wilma Payne, Margie; many nieces, nephews, and friends. Marline will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Visitation was held at 11:00 am, Monday, June 29, 2020, at White Hollow Church, Clubb. Funeral service followed at 3:00 pm. Bro. Steve Sanders ministered to the family. Music was provided by great-grandchildren and Burnett Bennett and Becky Hicks. Burial was in White Hollow Cemetery, Clubb.
