Martha L. Cole, 83, of Jefferson City, MO, formerly of Piedmont, passed away Friday, January 6, 2023, at Jefferson City Manor. She was born in Hadley, MO, October 5, 1939, to Walter and Elsie (Martin) Potter.
Martha was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She married Ernest Giles Cole on June 26, 1965, and they were blessed with two children. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, and listening to blue grass music. Martha was of the Baptist faith and a member of the First Baptist Church, Piedmont. She loved to sing, especially in church and with her family.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter: Sarah Cole; brothers: Sanford and Stanley Potter; sisters: Lorene Skaggs, Lena Roderman, and Pauline Gibson.
Martha is survived by her son: Brian Cole and wife Jennifer of Jefferson City; grandchildren: Ernest Taylor Cole and wife, Ethan Allen Cole and fiancé Jordan Slusser, Elijah Wayne Cole, and two great-grandchildren. Martha will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Visitation was held at 5:00 pm, Friday, January 13, 2023, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont Chapel. Funeral service was held at 11:00 am, Saturday, January 14, 2023, also in the Piedmont Chapel. Pastor Kenneth McFadden ministered to the family. Ronnie Potter, Stanley Potter Jr., Nick Potter, Ernest Cole, Ethan Cole, and Elijah Cole served as pallbearers.
