Mary Lillian (Clark) Gowen

Mary Lillian Gowen, 88, of Piedmont, MO, passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at Clarks Mountain Nursing Center. She was born in Little Lake, which is now known as Patterson, MO, on May 7, 1934, to parents Clinton Thurman and Clara Katherine (Henderson) Clark.

Mary was a loving wife, sister, aunt, and friend. Mary professed her faith in Christ and was baptized at the age of fifteen while attending Little Lake Baptist Church. She loved to sing in church, so her mother bought her a guitar at the age of sixteen. Mary’s parents moved the family to Piedmont, right across the street from the Gowen family where Mary met the love of her life, Samuel “Bud” Gowen, and they married in 1960. Mary was of the Pentecostal Faith and had past attended Faith Family Worship.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of sixty-two years, one sister: Ruby Lacy; one nephew and one niece.

Mary is survived by two nephews and one niece; brother-in-law: Albert Gowen and wife Fay of Salem; sister-in-law: Elsie Hampton of Farmington; special friends: Gary Beisman and wife Cheryl of Piedmont. Mary will be greatly missed.

Visitation was held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, June 4, 2022, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont Chapel. Funeral service followed at 1:00 pm, also in the Piedmont Chapel. Pastor Richard Sanders ministered to the family. Gary Beisman, Albert Gowen, Dennis Parks, Richard Sanders, Alex Ruegg, and Roy Million served as pallbearers.
