Mary Lena (Barfield) Hodges

Mary Lena Hodges, 84, of Veedersburg, IN, formerly of Piedmont, MO, passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at her residence. She was born in Piedmont, MO, December 1, 1937, to parents Mike Lee and Hallie Jane (Kinnamore) Barfield.

Mary was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She was a Christian and a member of Harvest Baptist Church. Mary worked at General Electric for thirty-one years before retiring. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time at her cabin at the lake. She loved to play horseshoes and was quite the competitor; competing in tournaments that took her to state and nationals. Mary was an avid reader, enjoyed spending time with her family, and adored her church.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son: William “Bill” Pierce; brothers: Charles, and Robert Barfield; sisters: Nellie Percy, Pauline Reed, and Shirley Slevin.

Mary is survived by her sons: Jason Hodges and Ashley Hulvey of Veedersburg, IN, Richard Pierce; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother: Larry Barfield. Mary will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Visitation was held at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at Harvest Baptist Church, Piedmont, MO. Funeral service followed at 2:00 pm, also at Harvest Baptist Church. Bro. Pete Ruble ministered to the family. Dylan Jimmerson, Roger Rudd, Don Reed, Josh Reed, and Darin Percy served as pallbearers. Burial was in Meador-Flatwoods Cemetery, Piedmont.
