Meldrid Richardson Obituary

Meldrid Mission Richardson, 61, of Poplar Bluff, MO, passed away on July 26, 2025, in Greenville, MO. Born in Sto. Tomas, Davao Del Norte, Philippines, February 5, 1964, to parents Antonio Distajo and Rizalina (Mission) Batbatan.

Meldrid was a devoted daughter, a beloved sister, a caring aunt, and a true friend to many. She moved to the United States over forty years ago, where she built a life rooted in love, friendship, and kindness. Her generous spirit and warm heart touched countless lives. She had a unique ability to make friends easily, and her positivity was infectious.

Meldrid shared a deep and inseparable bond with her sister, Rizalita — so close that many thought they were twins. As a big sister, Meldrid was nurturing, selfless, and always put her loved ones first. Her loving nature extended well beyond her family, as she was a dependable co-worker and a constant source of encouragement to those around her.

She found great joy in traveling and especially loved visiting the beach, where she could be surrounded by family and friends. Her laughter, energy, and unwavering optimism brought light wherever she went.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers: Arthur Batbatan and Antonio Batbatan Jr.

Meldrid is survived by her devoted sisters: Rizalita Anderson and husband David of the United Kingdom, and Lynne Magdasel and husband Rudy of the Philippines; nieces: Proline Boque, Harief Cabanday, Hazel Jaen, Chloe Pepito, Jessie Riz, Brianna Jaijai, VanVan Myka, and RL Toto Robert, Edna Batbatan; nephews: Harley Cabanday, Brocks Kyrei; best friends and United States family: Sharon Loyd, Laura Symonds and husband Larry as well as her Briggs & Stratton family in Poplar Bluff; along with many extended family members and dear friends who will forever remember her with love and gratitude.

Meldrid's legacy is one of compassion, joy, and deep familial love. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
