Michael George Wood, 74, of Williamsville, MO, passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at Cedargate Healthcare in Poplar Bluff, MO. He was born on August 20, 1950, in Poplar Bluff to the late Hollis William and Donna Marie (Hibbs) Wood.
Michael was a devoted father, brother, uncle, and friend, cherished by all who knew him. He married Rebecca “Becky” Ann Groves on April 5, 1978, and they were blessed with one son. Michael proudly served in the United States Navy and worked on the flight deck of an aircraft carrier. When he returned from the service, he worked as a truck driver, traveling across the country for many years before settling down in the local area, where he worked for Spencer Ready Mix in Poplar Bluff. He was of the Pentecostal faith.
A lover of the outdoors, Michael enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. In his spare time, he also had a passion for tinkering on vehicles. Above all, he treasured the moments spent with his family, who were the center of his life.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of forty-four years; granddaughter: Katlyn Wood; brothers: Larry “Dale” Wood, Hollis “Bill” Wood; sister: Penny Strange.
Michael is survived by his son: Craig Alan of Farmington; brothers: Rex Wood and wife Kathy of Poplar Bluff, Gary Wood and wife Tonya of Farmington, Jackie Wood of Ellsinore; brother-in-law: John Strange; several nieces and nephews, and a wide circle of extended family and friends. Michael will be deeply missed but always remembered with love and affection.
Visitation was held at 5:00 pm, Friday, December 27, 2024, at Black River Bible Baptist Church, 116 S. Main St. Williamsville. Funeral service was held at 7:00 pm, also at Black River Bible Baptist Church. Pastor Richard Sanders ministered to the family. Cremation followed service.
