Mildred Hicks, 91, of Piedmont, passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2020, at Madison County Memorial Medical Center, Fredericktown, MO. She was born January 31, 1929, in Vulcan, to parents William “Johnny” Clarence and Mary “Molly” Melvina (Hasty) Clifford. Mildred was a loving sister, aunt, mentor, and friend. She married Paul Hicks on June 27, 1969. She was a member of Des Arc Assembly of God Church in Des Arc. Mildred enjoyed gardening, going to church, and had a life-long passion painting ceramics. She loved being with her family and her church family. Mildred worked at Zephyr Café for many years, Grandma’s Restaurant, and retired from Continental Can Factory in St. Louis. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of forty-six years, brothers: Milburn, Harold, and Troy Clifford. Mildred is survived by her brother, James Clifford and wife Sue of Bonne Terre, MO, special couple, Paul Hicks and wife Jennifer of Piedmont, many nieces and nephews. Mildred will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Visitation was held at 5:00 pm, Friday, May 8, 2020, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont Chapel. Funeral service followed at 1:00 pm, Saturday, May 9, 2020, at Des Arc Assembly of God Church, Des Arc. Pastor Brent Reed ministered to the family. Paul Hicks gave a heartfelt eulogy. Paul Hicks, Mike Clifford, Matt Clifford, Taylor Hicks, Josh Clifford, and Levi Clifford served as pallbearers. Burial was in Sutton Cemetery, Vulcan.
