Minnie Carolyn May, daughter of the late Jackson Bruce and Jessie Marie Ward was born March 26, 1936, in Hiram (Turkey Creek), MO, and departed this life on October 24, 2022, in Piedmont, MO. Minnie had attained the age of 86.
She was united in marriage to George Otto May in May of 1954. He preceded her in death on May 15, 2007. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Piedmont.
Minnie devoted her time being an advocate for Alzheimer’s. She was involved in creating the Alzheimer’s Help Group in Wayne County. She was a member of the AARP, and in 2015, the AARP presented her with the Unsung Hero Award. Minnie served many years as a representative of the Missouri Dept. of Health and Sciences Services Silver Haired Legislature. She served with the SEMO Food Bank distributions and as an active volunteer for Hospice in the Wayne County Region. Minnie was the last of twelve siblings.
Minnie's life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children: Debra Marie Chilton and husband James, Lisa Diann Diamond and husband Brian and George David May; her grandchildren: April Marvin and husband Eric, Justenia Tinsley and husband Ben, Reyeshelle Whitaker, Nathan Chilton, David Andrew Nowlin and Kayla Nowlin, and many great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and special friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 1-4 pm, Saturday, November 12, 2022, at the Patterson Community Center, located 800 Patterson Ave., Patterson, MO 63956.
