Nancy Lois Dougherty, age 75, of rural Mill Spring, MO passed on to her eternal reward on February 13, 2020, at her home on the Dougherty farm. She was born November 20, 1944 in Poplar Bluff, MO to George Washington and Annie Artie Equilla Parnell Dempsey. She married William John “Bill” Dougherty, Sr. on July 20, 1963 in Poplar Bluff, MO. They moved to St. Louis where Bill worked at McDonnell Aircraft and in 1966 they had their son, William John “Will” Dougherty, Jr. Later, in 1975, they moved down to the country to live on the old Dougherty family farm. Lois worked as a Developmental Assistant for Southeast Missouri Residential Services, then retired to the home where she enjoyed gardening, fishing, and taking walks in nature. She loved singing, cooking, sewing, and many other hobbies, also. She was a Sunday School teacher and song leader at their church. On March 1, 2017, she suffered a massive stroke and for the next three years she received loving care from her husband Bill, before she passed on. She was preceded in death by her son, William John “Will” Dougherty, Jr. She is survived by her husband, William John “Bill” Dougherty, Sr.; her daughter-in-law Lisa Dougherty; and her grandson, Will Dougherty III and wife Ciera, of the family farm; her granddaughter, April Leslie Bondi and husband, Frank of New Castle, PA; her granddaughters: Sunflower Joy Dougherty, Gabrielle Faith Dougherty, and Lisa Melody Dougherty of the family farm; her great-grandchildren Bella Nicole Bondi and Bodhi William Bondi of New Castle, PA; her brothers and sisters: Margaret Riggins of Gulf Port, MS; Danny Heifner and wife Bernita of St. Louis, MO; Teresa Corey of Baton Rouge, LA; Hershel Heifner, Jr. and wife Sharon of Hernando, MS; and Annie Lee Sowells of Poplar Bluff, MO. Visitation was held from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm Saturday, February 15, 2020, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Williamsville. The funeral service followed at 2:00 pm also in the Williamsville chapel.
