Opal “Berniece” Sullivan, 92, of Piedmont, MO, passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at her residence. She was born in Patterson, MO, August 20, 1929, to parents John Roy and Ruby Laverne (Davis) Fowler.
Berniece was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. She was a loving and devoted wife to Ernest “Sarge” Sullivan and they were blessed with four children. Berniece was a devout Christian woman and a longtime member of the New Liberty United Baptist Church. Her membership was the longest of any member. Past positions Berniece held in her church included Sunday School secretary, church clerk, teaching Sunday School. She worked thirty-eight years for Brown Shoe Company. Berniece took all of her responsibilities very seriously.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of fifty-nine years; son: Randy Sullivan; daughter-in-law: Suzanne Sullivan; brother: Lee Roy Fowler; sister: Lelah Santhuff.
Berniece is survived by her children: Gary Ernest Sullivan of Festus, Kimberly “Kim” Melton and husband Larry of Piedmont, Jonna Tatum and husband Carroll of Ozark; daughter-in-law: Brenda Sullivan of Piedmont; grandchildren: Stephen Sullivan, Justin Sullivan, Brandon Sullivan and wife Danielle, Caleb Sullivan, Jenna Settle and husband Brandon, Jedidiah Melton and wife Justine, Autumn Twidwell and husband Scott, Houston Sutton and wife Hope; sister: Ruth Hartrup of Normandy, MO; many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Berniece was very dedicated to her family, church, and friends and will be greatly missed.
Visitation was held at 11:00 am, Sunday, February 27, 2022, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont Chapel. Funeral service followed at 2:00 pm, also in the Piedmont Chapel. Pastor Tom Willis ministered to the family. Steven Sullivan, Justin Sullivan, Brandon Sullivan, Caleb Sullivan, Jedidiah Melton, Houston, and Sutton served as pallbearers. Burial was in Mt.
