Ora E. Smith, 84, of Mill Spring, MO, passed away Monday, January 15, 2024, at Clark's Mountain Nursing Center, Piedmont, MO. He was born in Wayne County, MO, March 10, 1939, to parents Charley Hamp and Mamie Pearl (Boatwright) Smith.
Ora was a loving father, uncle, and friend. He was of the Pentecostal faith. Ora served in the United States Army. He enjoyed life with his son Oren Lee, the outdoors, fishing, and hunting. In his younger years, he loved to ride horses. Ora never met a stranger and loved to make others smile. He loved to be with his family and friends. He enjoyed spending time with his son outdoors watching nature. Ora gave his heart to Christ in 2016 along with his son, Oren Lee.
In addition to his parents: he is preceded in death by his son: Oren Lee Smith; brothers: Ottis and Olan Smith; sisters: Osa Webb, Ola Goebel, Opal Edward, Ollie Smith; significant other: Mary Evelyn Bearden.
Ora is survived by his sister-in-law: Edith Smith and several nieces and nephews. Ora will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation was held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont Chapel. Funeral service followed at 2:00 pm, also in the Piedmont Chapel. Pastor Richard Sanders ministered to the family. Burial was in Mill Spring Cemetery, with full military honors provided by the United States Army and American Legion Post 281 of Piedmont, MO.
