Patsy J. (Chitwood) Mann

Patsy “Pat” J. Mann, age 91 of Hamlet, IN, formerly of Florissant, MO, passed away after a brief illness, peacefully, with her daughter and granddaughter by her side, Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at Northwest Health LaPorte Hospital in LaPorte, Indiana.

She was born on April 22, 1930, in Hadley, MO, the daughter of Gay and Menda Chitwood who preceded her in death in 1984 and 1997 respectively.

On January 14, 1950, in St. Louis, MO, she married John D. Mann who preceded her in death on August 3, 2006, after 56 years of marriage.

Surviving is their only child Deborah S. Wolff and husband Bruce A. One granddaughter, Angela R. Meyer, one grandson William L. Meyer, all of Hamlet, IN, one step-granddaughter Ashley N. Wolff, and one step-great-grandson Landon A. Wolff, both of LaPorte, IN, two brothers, William T. “Tom” Chitwood and wife Gladys of Desloge, MO, and Richard D. “Dick” Chitwood and wife Barb of Piedmont, MO, and a large extended family including cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by two sisters, Lillian G. Chitwood, who passed away in early childhood, Sarah B. Grantski of Modesto, CA, and one brother, Robert R. Chitwood of Piedmont, MO.

She retired from a long career in banking in the St. Louis, MO, area, served as secretary at Northside Baptist Church in Florissant, MO, and loved flower gardening, shopping with family and feeding the birds. Her greatest joy was watching the St. Louis Cardinals play.

In life, Pat never met a person who wasn’t an immediate friend. In death, she will be greatly missed by those friends and all who knew and loved her.

She was always thankful to the Lord that she was able to live independently in her own home.

Visitation will be held Monday, December 13, 2021, at 5:00 pm, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont, MO. Visitation will resume at 9:00 am, Tuesday, December 14, 2021, with funeral service following at 11:00 am, also at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont.
