Raggie Skaggs Obituary

Raggie Charles Skaggs, 68, of Silva, MO, passed away Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at his residence. He was born July 29, 1953, in Hiram, MO, to parents Charles and Clara (Weston) Skaggs. Raggie was united in marriage to Sally Mosher and to this union five children were born.

He had spent a lifetime in the woods. At age fourteen he was doing a mans work, helping his family. He had worked in sawmills, drove a log skidder, hauled timber on a log truck, and hauled lumber and slabs for local mills. He had also drove a semi across country. Raggie enjoyed his travels but missed the time with his family. Through the years he had made many friends, many of whom he had either worked for or worked with.

The last year has been very hard physically for Raggie, he suffered so much. Now he is out of pain and at rest.

He was a Christian and of the General Baptist Faith.

In addition to his wife Sally, Raggie is survived by son, John Curtis Skaggs of Silva; three daughters: Ada Downing and husband Eric of Lowndes, Phoebe Skaggs, Jeanie Barks and husband Michael all of Silva; many grand and great grandchildren including one very special great granddaughter, Winnie Magnolia Ryan Skaggs. During the last year when Raggie endured cancer treatment, Winnie’s encouragement for him helped him make it through difficult times. She could always bring a smile to his face. He is also survived by six brothers: Joe Skaggs and wife Verna of Marble Hill, Harold Douglas Skaggs, Darrell Wayne Skaggs, both of Silva, Phillip Lee Skaggs and wife Lisa of Wappapello, Charles Lee Skaggs and wife Leslie, and Raymond Wayne Skaggs, all of Marble Hill, MO; three sisters: Peggy Jane Skaggs of Clubb, Sue Ellen Hale and husband Steve of Coldwater, Mary Helen Phillips and husband Jackie of Clubb.

Raggie was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents: Rage and Sari Skaggs and Bill and Dolly Weston; one son Raggie Charles Skaggs Jr, who passed in 1983.

He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
