Vernon Ray Mann, age 92, passed away at Polk Medical Center in Cedartown, Georgia on March 20, 2022. He was born in Leeper, Missouri on October 29, 1929 to Frank Dee and Ethel (Foster) Mann. Ray was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and friend.
He proudly served his country in the Korean Conflict 1947 thru 1951, leaving the army at the rank of Sergeant First Class.
Ray and Velma (Hefner) married in January 1954. They made their home in Colorado for 41 years, where he owned and operated a logging and sawmill operation. He was a great provider and loved his family with all his heart. Ray was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church, Piedmont, Missouri.
In addition to his parents, he is proceeded in death by his brothers: Doug Mann, Marvin Mann, Sidney Mann, Raymond Hodge, George Hodge; sisters: Dorothy Murphy, Berta Mae Erxleben, Betty Hixson, Lena Hodge, and Inez Chill.
Ray is survived by his loving and devoted wife of sixty-eight years; children: Kathy Mann of Cartersville, Georgia, and Steve Mann and wife Amy of Kennesaw, Georgia; Grandchildren: Mark Kirby and wife Jennifer, Ashley Armstrong, McKenzie LaCombe, and Riley Mann; great grandchildren: Rae and Walker Armstrong, Merrick and Elowyn LaCombe.
Visitation will be held at 5:00 pm, Thursday, April 7, 2022, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont Chapel. Memorial service will be held at 9:00 am, Friday, April 8, 2022, also in the Piedmont Chapel. Burial will follow at 12:00 noon, in the Missouri State Veteran Cemetery, Bloomfield, Missouri, with full military honors. Online condolences can be made at www.rueggfuneralhomes.com
