Ray (Raymond) Fischer Obituary

Ray (Raymond) C. Fischer, age 90, passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2022, as he slept in his favorite recliner at home near Lowndes. He was born May 25, 1932, in Wallace, KS, the son of Earl Fischer and Melba (Patterson) Fischer.

Ray retired from General Motors, St. Louis in 1984 and enjoyed retirement for the past thirty-eight years with many family and friends in the area where he grew up near Lowndes, MO. He was a member of the Zelma Masonic Lodge for sixty-three years, a long-time volunteer Fire Chief and firefighter at the Lowndes Volunteer Fire Department, enjoyed the outdoors and was of Christian faith. Ray raised three daughters with his first wife and later married Bonnie Fischer on March 11, 1972, raising one son.

Preceding him in death are his parents, three brothers, Jerry, Donald and Robert, and many other loved and cherished family and friends.

Survivors include his wife Bonnie Fischer, of the home, four children, Teresa Elliott and her husband Jay, of Arnold, MO, Kimberly Heyden and her husband Bill, of Eureka, MO, Regina Ganter, of St. Peters, MO, and Scott Fischer and his wife Susan, of St. Louis, MO, four siblings, Kathy Martin of Boynton Beach, FL, Betty Fulton of Bloomfield, IL, Gary Fischer and his wife June, of Lowndes, MO and Larry Fischer of St. Charles, MO. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Shawn Wade, Jason Wade, Jennifer Walsh, Ashley Shelton, Andrea Puerto, Kristina Puerto, Evelyn Fischer and Audrey Fischer, ten great grandchildren, Brittany, Tyler, Elliot, Addy, Felicity, Liam, Gabriel, Theadore, and Shepard, and many nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

Visitation was held at 11:00 am, Saturday, December 10, 2022, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Greenville Chapel. A Masonic service was held at 12:45 pm, also at the Greenville Chapel, funeral service followed at 1:00 pm. Pastor John Rhodes ministered to the family. Dale Yount lead the Masonic service. Darryl Fischer, Jay Elliott, Tyler Wade, Jason Wade, Bill Heyden, and Elliot Wade served as pallbearers. Burial was in McGee Cemetery near Lowndes, MO.
