Ernest “Raymond” Morris, 90, of Piedmont, MO, passed away January 2, 2024, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center, Poplar Bluff, MO. He was born in Patterson, MO, July 7, 1933, to parents Manuel and Lora Elizabeth (Shearrer) Morris.
Raymond was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He graduated with the class of 1950 from Patterson High School. Raymond proudly served in the United States Army. He married the love of his life, Ione Boyer, on November 29, 1957, and they were blessed with four children. Raymond was of the Baptist faith and a member of Patterson Baptist Church. He was a wonderful provider for his family. Raymond worked at Proctor and Gamble as a Supply Coordinator for thirty-eight years. He loved fishing, deer hunting, and crossword puzzles. He also enjoyed watching western movies and making DVDs of the children’s videos at his church. Raymond loved family vacations, camping and anywhere he could go fishing. His greatest legacy was his family, and he was very proud of each one.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers: William “Paul” and Roy Levi Morris.
Raymond is survived by his loving and devoted wife of sixty-six years; children: Brenda Kirkpatrick and husband Matt of Imperial, Rose Uelhof and husband Joel of Marble Hill, Dan Morris and wife Debbie of O’Fallon, Doug Morris of Welden Springs; grandchildren: Matthew Kirkpatrick and fiancé Angela Carr, James Kirkpatrick and wife Sarah, Ashley Kirkpatrick, Kristina Sachs and husband Randy, Heather Uelhof, Robin Engel and husband Tyler, Natalie Morris, Emily Swearingin and husband Chris, Carrie Morris, Kyle Morris and wife Megan, Tiffany Young and husband Cameron; great-grandchildren: Grace, Liam, Ruby, Cassidy, Edee, Lillie-Belle, Harrison, Bryan, Kendal, Colby, Calvin, and two twin on the way; Riley and Chloe. Raymond will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Visitation was held at 5:00 pm, Thursday, January 4, 2024, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont Chapel. Funeral service was held at 11:00 am, Friday, also in the Piedmont Chapel. Pastor Jule Maskrod ministered to the family. Matthew Kirkpatrick, James Kirkpatrick, Kyle Morris, Tyler Engel, Randy Sachs, Chris Swearingin, and Cameron Young served as pallbearers. Burial followed in Duncan Cemetery, with full military honors provided by the United States Army and American Legion Post 281 of Piedmont. Online condolences can be made at www.rueggfuneralhomes.com
