Retha Branson Obituary

Retha A. Branson 70, of Des Arc, MO, passed away Sunday, April 26, 2020, at her residence. She was born in New Madrid, MO, December 7, 1949, to parents Thomas and Dorothy (Willamison) Grimes. Retha was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She enjoyed her gardening, flowers, fishing, camping. Her favorite past times were sitting on her front porch and spending time with her family. She was a certified nurse assistant (CNA), and worked at Clark’s Mt. Nursing Center before working in Home Health and found helping others satisfying. Retha loved to play cards, especially with her grandchildren. In additions to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Larry Collins; her daughter, Michelle Carter; her grandson, Shane Eugene McFadden; her brother, Tommy Grimes; her sisters: Louida Strecker, Betty Jo Parker, and Connie Cave. Retha is survived by her son, Michael McFadden and fiancé Amy Lashley of Des Arc, grandchildren: Gage McFadden, Zachary Lashley, Julia McFadden, Evan McFadden, Trevor Davis, Tasha Carter and fiancé Adam Lawson, Samantha Pfaff and husband Branson; great-grandchildren: Ava Lawson, Connor Lawson, Trenton Kamer, and Sabrina Pfaff; brothers: Cletis Grimes of Bowling Green, KY, James Grimes and wife JoAnn of St. Peters; sisters: Sue O’Conner and husband Tom of Eureka, Pam Green and husband Mike of Piedmont; and her favorite companion, Gracie her dog. Retha will be missed by her family and friends. Visitation was held from 12:00 pm, until 2:00 pm, Thursday, May 7, 2020, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont Chapel. Funeral service followed at 2:00 pm also in the Piedmont Chapel. Pastor Richard Sanders ministered to the family. Jack Henson gave a heartfelt eulogy. Tyler Pinkley, Craig Grimes, Darrin Grimes, Donnie Carter, Zac Lashley, Gage McFadden, Bryon Cave, and Adam Lawson served as pallbearers. Burial was in Mt. View Cemetery, Des Arc.
