Roy M. Parton, 81, of Poplar Bluff, MO, passed away Saturday, October 24, 2020, at Riverways Manor Nursing Home, Van Buren, MO. He was born in Patterson, MO, September 28, 1939, to the late Lawrence Harley and Lola (Bennett) Parton.
Roy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He married Judith McKenzie, August 1976, and she precedes him in death. He married Sharon Henson January 20, 2001. Roy worked in the trucking industry for many years. He moved back to Patterson in 1996 to retire and has lived in Poplar Bluff the last nine years. He enjoyed farming and was an avid gardener and fisherman. Roy was a Shriner in Alton, IL, and as a Shriner clown loved balloon making and participating in the Shriner circus. Roy was a Mason, with the Franklin Lodge #25 in Alton, IL, for over fifty-five years. Roy will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers: Arthur, Carl, Brian, and Bennett Parton; his sisters: Kathleen Gilmore, Nellie Montgomery, and Elaine Cougar.
Roy is survived by his loving wife of nineteen years; children: Kevin Henson and wife Jamie of Williamsville, Jeffrey Henson and wife Amy of Williamsville, Cheryl Oberhaus of Cape Girardeau, Kimberly J. Henson of Williamsville; grandchildren: Erik Oberhaus, Dr. Erin Oberhaus, Benjamin Henson and wife Kimberly D., Clay Henson, Whitney Limanen, Lindsay Willard and husband Lee, Abby Henson; eight great-grandchildren; brother: Jerry Parton and wife Eve of Denver, CO; niece, Connie Loveless of New Castle, IN; nephew, Mike Parton of Arvada, CO, and many other nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, October 28, 2020, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Greenville Chapel. A Masonic service was held at 12:30 pm and funeral service followed at 1:00 pm, also in the Greenville Chapel. Father John "J" Friedel and Father Rick Jones ministered to the family. Dr. Erin Oberhaus read the obituary. Erik Oberhaus, Dr. Erin Oberhaus, Benjamin Henson, Clay Henson, Whitney Limanen, Lindsay Willard, and Abby Henson served as pallbearers.
