Roy Robertson, 79, formerly of Piedmont, MO, passed away Friday, August 13, at his residence. He was born in St. Louis, MO, June 11, 1942, to parents Carl Warner and Pearl Della (Baecker) Robertson.
Roy was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Roy proudly served in the United States Army. He served in the National Guard for about thirteen years and worked parades, fall festival and in the recruiting booth. He was a member of the American Legion in Warrington, and Troy. Roy married the love of his life, Judith Darden, on November 16, 1963, and to this union three children were born. He deeply loved his wife and carried their wedding picture in his wallet for over fifty-seven years. Roy worked as a heavy machine operator until he retired from Union Pacific. He then worked for Bodine as Quality Control manager and group leader before retiring from there. He was an avid musician. He loved to play music and sing. Roy loved God and was of the Pentecostal faith. He was very active in church and past attended the Pentecostal Church of God in Piedmont. Roy was a modest, honest, and dependable man. He enjoyed traveling, going to the drive-in, deer hunting, camping, and fishing. Most of all, he enjoyed his family. Roy was family oriented and not only loved his family, but he showed each one how much he dearly loved them daily. He would rather be with his family than his friends.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers: Carl Robertson Jr. and Warner Robertson.
Roy is survived by his loving wife, Judith, of fifty-seven years; children: Roy “Dale” Robertson and wife Nancy of Hattiesburg, MS, Carl Andrew Robertson and wife Missy of Troy, Christina Lynn Dilport and husband George of Troy; grandchildren: Katrina, Josh, Sasha, Tamra, Jacob, Ben; great-grandchildren: Daniel, Noah, Isaac, David, William, Ella, Ava, Lyla, Emily, Nick; sisters: Arlene Haggett and husband Clyde of Piedmont, Brenda Lay and husband Dan of Washington, many nieces, nephews and friends. Roy will be greatly missed.
Visitation was held at 5:00 pm, Wednesday, August 18, 2021, at Ruegg Funeral Home Piedmont Chapel. Funeral service was held at 11:00 am, Thursday, August 19, 2021, also in the Piedmont Chapel. Bro. Terry Richardson ministered to the family. Alan Gentles gave a heartfelt eulogy. Jacob Robertson, Benjamin Robertson, Charlie Reeves, Josh Nannen, Bill Mohart, and Steve Meshade served as pallbearers. Curtis Forrest served as honorary pallbearers. Full military honors were provided by the United States Army and American Legion Post 281, Piedmont. Burial followed in Forest Chapel Cemetery, Piedmont.
