Ruby “Nanny” Marie Shoemake, 88, of Greenville, MO, long time resident of Wayne County, passed away Friday, March 27, 2026, at Clark’s Mountain Nursing Center, Piedmont, MO. She was born September 2, 1937, at Silva, MO, daughter of the late Inez (Montgomery) Marler and Carl Adams.
Ruby was a 1956 graduate of Greenville High School. Soon after graduation, she moved to St. Louis, MO, where she worked at Bussmann Fuse for many years until 1973 when she returned to Wayne County, where she made her home in Silva.
Ruby worked in the community for many years, where her friendly demeanor made her a joy to everyone she met. She was known by many in the community for her warmth, smiles and hard work.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Noah Shoemake of Silva; daughter, Gina Everhart of Georgia; brother, Frank Marler of Silva; and sister, Carrie Marler of Silva.
Ruby is survived by her daughters: Sandra Gream and companion, Darrell Hamby, of Patterson; Nikki Shoemake of Cape Girardeau; and Lisa Brown of Dublin, GA; grandchildren: Christopher Gream of Poplar Bluff, Allie Gream of Greenville, Shannon Allison and husband LaRay, Amanda Smith, Joshua Brown all of Dublin, GA, Roger Everhart Jr. of Nevada, Zachariah Everhart, Zane Everhart, Angelia Everhart all of Piedmont, Dennis Capps Jr., and Tyler Atnip both of Cape Girardeau; and eighteen great-grandchildren.
Ruby will always be remembered for her loving nature and kindness. Her kindness was genuine, effortless, and left a lasting mark on anyone fortunate enough to have known her.
Visitation was held at 5:00 pm, Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Greenville Chapel. Funeral service was held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, April 1, 2026, also in the Greenville Chapel. Bro. Rusty Rhoden ministered to the family. Grandson, Dennis Capps Jr. gave a heartfelt eulogy. Dennis Capps Jr., Tyler Atnip, Tommy Leach, Christopher Gream, Dennis Montgomery, John Burger, and Paul Wisdom served as pallbearers. Burial followed in New Prospect Cemetery, Silva, MO.
