Sandra Jean (Davis) Montgomery

Sandra "Sandy" Jean Montgomery, 84, of Silva, MO, passed away Friday, September 6, 2024, at her residence. She was born August 20, 1940 at St. Louis, MO to parents John and Mildred (Ward) Davis.

Sandy was a 1958 graduate of Piedmont High School and was valedictorian of her class. She worked several years at Toney’s Drug Store in her younger years. On June 6, 1964, she married James Louis Montgomery SR., and were blessed with two children. Sandy had also worked as a Med Tech for Clark’s Mountain Nursing Center and Greenville Health Care. Through the years she had made many trips with her husband James in his semi across the lower forty-eight states. They also enjoyed traveling to Florida to visit family. Sandy was a Christian and a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Silva for many years where she was also a Wednesday night Bible study teacher. Sandy had a special place in her heart for children and enjoyed volunteering her time to help serve school lunches at New Hope Christian Academy. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren always had a special piece of her heart. In her spare time she enjoyed cooking and crocheting.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of fifty-one years; son, James “Jimmy” Louis Montgomery Jr., brothers: Dennis Davis, John “Butch” Davis and Ronnie Davis.

Sandy is survived by her daughter: Kimberly Montgomery of Silva; grandchildren: John Sweazey and wife Danielle of Clubb, JT Montgomery and wife Rebecca of Lowndes; great-grandchildren: Raylynn and Lincoln Sweazey, Troy Montgomery, Madison, and Nathan Thompson; brother: Robert Davis, several nieces, nephews and friends. Sandy will be greatly missed. 

Visitation was held at 12:00 noon, Friday, September 13, 2024, at New Hope Baptist Church, Silva, MO. Funeral service followed at 2:00 pm, also at New Hope Baptist Church. Bro. Dan Ross ministered to the family. Music was provided by the congregation, led by Bro. Don Ross. Pianist was Sis. Sandy Ross. JT Montgomery, John Sweazey, Ward Meadors, David Weaks, Kyle Doris, and Nathan Thompson served as pallbearers. Burial was in New Prospect Cemetery, Silva.
