Shirley Ann Duckett, 81, of Piedmont, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 4, 2024, at Clark's Mountain Nursing Center, Piedmont, MO. She was born on February 19, 1943, in Piedmont, to Oscar and Jenny (Taylor) Graham.
Shirley was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, known for her hard work ethic, ability to quilt, sew, and she loved to read books. A woman of great strength and resilience, Shirley had a heart that was as vast as the outdoors she loved. She enjoyed spending time in nature, particularly taking her children to the park. Sundays were special days spent with her family. She was of the Baptist faith and had attended Big Lake Baptist Church.
Shirley was a hardworking woman with a strong sense of independence and grit. Throughout her life, she held jobs at Holmes Store, Ross Minit Mart, Town and Country, Piedmont Hat Factory, and Clark's Mountain Nursing Center. No matter where she worked, Shirley gave her all—never complaining, she sacrificed much for her children, always putting their needs above her own. She instilled in them the values of self-reliance and perseverance, and independence, leaving a lasting legacy of love, strength, and devotion.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her brother, Paul Graham, and her sister, Hazel Griggs.
Shirley is survived by her children: Melvin Aldrich of Piedmont, Peggy Aldrich of Jackson, Colleen Talley and husband Scott of Jackson, Rhonda Harrell and husband Ben of Scott City, and Penny Duckett of Dubuque, IL; grandchildren: James Johnson, Ean Buffington and wife Sidney, Casey White, and Daniel White and wife Emily; great-grandchildren: Kimber and Cash Brady; her sisters: Helen Maddox of Piedmont and Juanita Skyles and husband Joe of Cuba; many nieces, and nephews. Shirley's warm presence and loving spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Shirley’s life was one of deep love, faith, and sacrifice, and her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
