Stanley Joe Griggs, 62, of Williamsville, MO, passed away Friday, September 27, 2024, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO. He was born in Poplar Bluff, MO, November 27, 1961, to parents Billie Joe and Hazel Doris (Graham) Griggs.
Stan was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. A man of many talents and vocations. Stan married the love of his life, Shelia Bratton, on May 23, 1981, in Williamsville, and they were blessed with two children. He was a workaholic and would not shy away from helping anyone. He loved his friends and community as a family. Stan was an avid hunter and enjoyed the outdoors. He enjoyed building, woodworking, and could fix about anything. Over the years, he worked for Griggs Sawmill, Henson Farms, and the SWCD office in Greenville. Stan never met a stranger. He was a hero to his family and those who knew him. He was a wonderful friend to his community. Stan loved his family with all his heart and enjoyed spending time with them.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his granddaughter: Paisley Sue Spencer; mother-in-law: Sue Bratton.
Stan is survived by his loving wife of forty-three years; children: Sarah Griggs and companion Mitch Spencer of Ellsinore, Cory Griggs of Williamsville; grandchildren: James and Jayce Cassin of Ellsinore; sister: Sharon Webb of Williamsville, brother: Brent Griggs and wife Amber of Williamsville; father-in-law: Charles Bratton; brothers-in-law: Nick, Don, and Ron Bratton; five nephews, three nieces, two great-nephews, and a host of friends. Stan will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and community.
Visitation was held at 5:00 pm, Thursday, October 3, 2024, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Williamsville Chapel. Funeral service was held at 1:00 pm, Friday, October 4, 2024, also in the Williamsville Chapel. Bro. Mike Green ministered to the family. Brent Griggs, Bob Hillis, Bobby Hillis, Donald Gillum, Eric Wood, and Jeff Henson served as pallbearers. James Cassin and Joyce Cassin served as honorary pallbearers. Burial followed in the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery, Poplar Bluff, MO. Online condolences can be made at www.rueggfuneralhomes.com
