Steven Kendrick Obituary

Steven Robert “Stevie” Kendrick, 72, of Piedmont, MO, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at The Manor Nursing Center in Poplar Bluff, MO. He was born in Ironton, MO, October 26, 1953, to parents Clarence and Bernice (Gibson) Kendrick.

Steve was a 1972 graduate of South Iron High School, he spent his life building lasting relationships through his work, his family, and his involvement in the community he loved.

On August 26, 1982, Steve married Carol Floyd, and together they were blessed with a daughter, Amanda. Steve was a devoted father, grandfather, uncle, and friend whose greatest joy came from spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. For fifty years, Steve dedicated himself to Turnbough's Building Supply in Piedmont. Throughout those years, he became a familiar and friendly face to customers and community members alike. Known for his quick wit, sense of humor, and ability to make others smile, Steve left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Steve enjoyed life's simple pleasures. He loved taking drives to Des Arc, spending time woodworking, cigarettes, and visiting with family and friends. His easygoing nature, humor, and kindness will be remembered by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three sisters, Regina Miller, Dana Noonan, and Carol Higgins.

Steve is survived by his daughter, Amanda Mays and husband Jason of Piedmont; grandchildren: Mallory Martin, Ean Buffington and wife Sidney, Jaden Alberson and husband Matthew, Kierstyn Mays, Kyllie McClintock and husband Tucker, Todd Buffington, Lydia Mays, Landon Mann, and Cadynce Mays; great-grandchildren, Myla Martin and Macklynn Martin; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless friends throughout the community.
