Thomas Roth Obituary

Thomas Henry Roth, age 71, made it to heaven, his final destination, on Sunday, March 1st, 2020. He was born on July 19, 1948, in Jonesburg, MO, to Henry Theodore and Margaret Catherine (Carver) Roth. Born tiny, it was said he fit into a small shoebox. However, if you knew him, you saw what a big personality he grew into. Tom loved frequenting local establishments, and the individuals whose paths he crossed became his circle of friends. He loved making dollar bill rings that perfectly fit for the new people he met. Upon first meeting him, you certainly heard “well you must know my son/daughter/granddaughter/grandson”, followed by a showing of pictures on his phone or iPad. He was so incredibly proud to be their Dad and Grandpa. His family meant everything to him. Whether you met him once or knew him well, you never forgot meeting him. Tom loved gun trading and knew almost every detail about his two favorite gun manufacturers, Colt and Smith & Wesson. He spent much of his time at the local pawn and gun shops, shopping on the Kittery Trading Post webpage, and attending gun shows. He very proud of his Country, for many years he checked every label to ensure it was “Made in the USA” before he purchased items or accepted gifts. He also enjoyed target practicing, playing solitaire with his grandkids, and spending time with his family. He loved Taco Taco, Steak n Shake and KFC fried chicken. He DETESTED smoking. In September 1969, Tom married Carmen Denise Bennett and to this union, two children were born. During his working career he spent ten years at Krey Packing Plant, and over 30 years at the Dial Corporation as a Tool Crib Attendant where he later retired. He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather, Samuel James Alongi. Tom is survived by his children, Tom Roth and wife, Lori, of Poplar Bluff, Amber Montgomery and husband, Eliot, of Batesburg, SC; grandchildren: Abigale Loftis and husband, Allen; Sam Roth and girlfriend, Elizabeth Caldwell; Jake Roth and girlfriend, Jorie Preston; Logan Keeney and fiancé, Morgan Gholson; Curtis Chiaramonte, Luciana Chiaramonte, and Rodney Montgomery; great-grandchildren: Colt Loftis, Grayce Keeney, and Austyn Gholson; brothers: Robert Roth of Conway, NH, and Jerry Roth of Montrose, CO; sister: Joyce Kiszkiss and husband, Dave, of Exeter, NH; nieces, Brandy Keeven and husband, Mike; Tara Barker and husband, Scott; and Alison Jackman; a nephew, Bobby Roth; and four great nephews. Tom's smile will be missed greatly. As he always said, "This isn't goodbye, it's I'll see you later." Visitation was held from 5:00 until 7:00 pm, Wednesday, March 4, 2020, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Greenville. A memorial service followed at 7:00 pm, also in the Greenville chapel. Pastor Darrell Davis ministered to the family. Elizabeth Caldwell gave a heartfelt eulogy.
