Virginia Maxine (Robinson) Barker

Virginia “Maxine” Barker, 81, of Greenville, MO, passed away Thursday, June 6, 2024, at her residence. She was born in Leachville, AR, May 24, 1943, to parents Walter and Ailene (Marler) Robinson.

Maxine was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She met the love of her life, Claybert “Paul” Barker in a chance meeting at Coldwater Café and they married on November 11, 1961, and were blessed with two children. Maxine worked at Baldor Electric in Valley Park for many years before retiring and she and Paul moved back to the Wayne County area. Maxine enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, growing flowers, and stockcar racing. She was a Christian of the Baptist faith and a member of Camp Eight General Baptist Church in Greenville. Maxine and Paul truly enjoyed worshiping their Lord through the songs they sang together as Maxine played her guitar. She was faithful in making her nightly phone call every night to her daughter.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of fifty-six years; brother: James Leroy Robinson; sister: Olene Pennington.

Maxine is survived by her children Rick Barker and wife Sondra of Cedar Hill; Cynthia Harris and companion Alan Jones of Puxico; three grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brothers: Louie Robinson and wife Linda of Greenville, Danny Robinson of Piedmont, Dale Robinson and wife Rita; sister: Tina Wilkerson and husband Dwight of Puxico. Maxine will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and church family.

Visitation was held at 5:00 pm, Sunday, June 9, 2024, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Greenville Chapel. Funeral service was held at 11:00 am, Monday, June 10, 2024, also in the Greenville Chapel. Bro. Louie Robinson, and Bro. Everett Meese ministered to the family. Bro Danny Robinson read the obituary. Special music was provided by Sue Allen, Lori Rhoden, pianist Gary Reeves and pianist Sondra Barker. Troy Robinson, Scott Barker, Rick Barker, Alan Jones, PJ Smith, ad Todd Barker served as pallbearers. Burial was in Camp Eight Cemetery, Greenville, MO.
