Virginia Hoskin Obituary

Virginia Hoskin passed away peacefully at home in Piedmont, MO, on Thursday, August 5, 2021.  She was 95. Virginia was born March 14, 1926, near Patterson, to parents Martin Davis and Clara Ellen (Ellis) Bacon. 

Virginia grew up on a farm in Wayne County and graduated from Patterson High School in 1944.  After high school she worked as a nurse at the State Sanatorium in Mount Vernon, MO, where she met her husband, Donald Hoskin. They were married July 14, 1947, and lived in Mount Vernon until 1960, when they moved to California. Virginia and Donald raised their family in the Los Angeles area until Donald’s death in 1977. Virginia then returned to Missouri and lived in Ellsinore then later in Piedmont, at which time she worked for Volunteers in Service to America (VISTA) and volunteered at the East Carter County Nutrition Center in Ellsinore. Virginia was a life-long member of the Church of Christ.  She valued family and friends and loved the beauty of the Missouri countryside. 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, brothers: Daniel, Paul, Henry, Donald, and Rollin Bacon; sisters: Myra Davis, Geneva Graham, and June Adair.

Virginia is survived by her children: Stephen Hoskin and wife Carol of La Grange, TX, Sam Hoskin and wife Tracy of Ogden, UT, Barbara Allen and companion Ronnie Reynolds of Ellsinore; grandchildren: Reagan Allen and husband James, Jill Glore and husband Earl, Geoff Weldon, Vanessa Hoskin; great-grandchildren: Coy, Hailey Glore, Samantha Glore, Colbie Weldon, Dane Weldon, Thomas Weldon, Ember Weldon, Riley Perry, Dorian Hoskin, Colton Pierce, and Tyler Stone-Hoskin; two great-great-grandchildren: Athenna Campbell and Mayleigh-Jane Newell. She was loved by many and will be missed greatly. 

A graveside service was held at 12:00 noon, Monday, August 9, 2021, at Rowland-Woods Cemetery, Patterson.
