Virginia L. Rainwater, 85, of Greenville, passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at Greenville Nursing and Rehab. She was born in Greenville, MO, April 14, 1936, to parents James L. and Eulah (League) Fox.
Virginia was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was a lifelong resident of Greenville, having grown up and attended school there. She met the love of her life, Howard E. Rainwater, and they were married September 7, 1956, and of this union, they were blessed with two wonderful daughters. Virginia was of the General Baptist faith and attended Jacktown General Baptist Church for many years until she could not attend church any longer. She had a love for people and was a prominent figure in the community. Virginia worked as a custodian at Greenville RII Schools, and enjoyed watching each generation grow up. She loved to cook and was known as the piemaker. She enjoyed yard sales and fishing.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of sixty-one years; and one brother: J. C. Fox.
She is survived by her two daughters: Brenda Adams and husband Butch of Greenville, Melinda Sutton and husband Tim of Patterson; grandchildren: Ron Sutton and wife Mandy, Erica Rogers and husband Donald, Elisa Swan and husband Andrew, Leslie Adams and companion Matt Rumbach; great-grandchildren: Thatcher Sutton, Drake Sutton, Walker Rogers, Lainey Rogers and Augustus Rogers; brother: John Fox and wife Loretta of Greenville; sisters: Mary Bess of Fredericktown, Ruth Thompson of Fremont, and Linda Jones and husband Melvin of Troy, IL. Virginia will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Visitation was held at 5:00 pm, Friday, May 7, 2021, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Greenville Chapel. Funeral service was held at 11:00 am, Saturday, May 8, 2021, also in the Greenville Chapel. Bro. Leslie Burchard and Bro. Louie Robinson ministered to the family. Rick Starks, Harold Henderson, Tom Roth, Kevin Fox, and Jimmy Fox served as pallbearers.
