Wanda Louise Atnip, 88, of Poplar Bluff, MO, formerly of Shook, MO, passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at Aspire Senior Living in Poplar Bluff. She was born in Shook, MO, June 3, 1937, to Joseph Edward and Stella Opal (Barks) Atnip.
Wanda was a loving sister, aunt, and friend who deeply cherished her family and those around her.
Wanda had a servant’s heart and loved helping people. She worked for many years at Walmart, where she was known for her kindness and friendly spirit. She lived an active life, enjoying long walks and traveling. Wanda had the joy of visiting many places throughout the United States and treasured those experiences.
A woman of strong Pentecostal faith, Wanda dearly loved her church family. She found great joy in singing and playing her guitar, using her talents to praise the Lord and encourage others. Above all, Wanda loved her family and held them close to her heart.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers: Junior, Truman, Ivan, Alva, and Lonnie Atnip; sisters: Inez Walker and Stella Fae Atnip.
Wanda is survived by her niece and nephews who were also her devoted caretakers: Debra Ordway and Ell “Ronnie” Walker, both of Poplar Bluff, and Steve Walker of Shook; along with several other nieces, nephews, and her beloved church family.
Wanda Louise Atnip will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her, and her legacy of faith, kindness, and love will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
Visitation was held at 11:00 am, Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Greenville Chapel. Funeral service followed at 1:00 pm, also in the Greenville Chapel. Bro. Louie Robinson ministered to the family. Steven Walker, Eric Walker, Bob Ordway, Andrew Quade, Jim Atnip, and Blake Dorris served as pallbearers. Burial was in Shiloh Cemetery, Shook, MO.
