Willard R. Emerson, 93, of Clubb, MO, passed away Monday, July 20, 2020, at Mark Twain Caring Center, Poplar Bluff, MO. Willard was born in Waterloo, IA, January 27, 1927, to the late Rev. Charles J. and Theresa (Joseph) Emerson. Willard was a loving brother, uncle, and friend. He grew up in Chicago, IL. Willard was an avid baseball player. He tried out for the Chicago Cubs, and was picked for the team. Before he could join the team, he was drafted into the United States Navy during World War II. In addition to his parents, Willard is preceded in death by two brothers: Arthur Emerson and Leroy “Roy” C. Emerson, one sister Lois Holstein, one nephew, Glen Emerson, and one niece, Karen Emerson. Willard is survived by one sister-in-law, Shirley Emerson; his nieces and nephews; Eddie Emerson of Jackson, MO, Beverly Roach and husband Larry of Poplar Bluff, MO, Carolyn Emerson of CA, David Holstein and Doug Holstein both of Kankakee, IL. Visitation will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, July 24, 2020, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Greenville Chapel. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, also in the Greenville Chapel.
