William "Billy" Shy, 30, of Vulcan, MO, passed away Tuesday, August 11, 2020, in Vulcan. He was born October 30, 1989, in Ellington, MO, to parents William Shy and Patricia Ruble.
Billy was a loving son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend. He graduated from South Iron High School in 2008 and had twenty college credits at the time of his graduation. He worked as a forklift operator at Gilster-Mary Lee in Perryville, before moving back to Iron county where he worked at Alcorn in the sawmill. Billy enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, and hunting. He had a great sense of humor and often made others laugh. Billy loved his family, especially his mother. He would tell anyone he was a “momma’s boy.”
He is preceded in death by his grandparents: Howard and Lil Shy, Dwight and Lois Ruble, uncle: Tony Shy.
Billy is survived by his father: William Shy of Farmington; mother: Patty Ruble and husband Glen of Vulcan, brother: Justin Ruble and wife Christy of Desloge, sisters: Melissa Ferguson and husband Chris of Piedmont, Jamie Colyott and husband Jim of Ironton, Glenda Merseal and husband Bret of Bonne Terre; grandmother: Loretta Ruble of Patterson; uncles: Dave Ruble and wife Sharon of Des Arc, Jim Ruble and wife Rhonda of Piedmont, Joe Shy of Potosi, John Shy of Park Hills; aunt: Linda Bollinger and husband Joe of Des Arc, who was like Billy’s second parents; Nieces: Mattie and Abigail; best friend: Danny Widmer; and special to Billy’s heart was Mae Lynn. Billy will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Visitation was held at 12:00 pm, Saturday, August 15, 2020, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont Chapel. Funeral service followed at 2:00 pm, also in the Piedmont Chapel. Pastor James Gray ministered to the family. Jerry Browers, Patrick Scharr, Danny Widmer, Clint McAlister, Mike Stevenson, Tim Burdorif, and Dylan Atkins served as pallbearers.
