Willis “Pickle” Ray Skaggs, 77, of Hiram, MO, passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at Cedar Gate Nursing Home, in Poplar Bluff, MO. He was born in Hiram, MO, June 18, 1946, to parents Virge and Rosa “Talley” Skaggs.
Pickle grew up in Hiram, where he spent most of his life, and attended Turkey Creek Schools. Over his lifetime he worked many different jobs. He was most active in logging and farming. Pickle was the oldest of six, was the glue for his siblings and a second father to his nieces and nephews. He was a Christian and of the Baptist faith. Pickle was very proud of his family.
Pickle is preceded in death by his parents.
Pickle is survived by his brothers: Virgil “Babe” Skaggs, Clarence “Lampshade” Skaggs, Kenneth “Pete” Skaggs all of Hiram, MO; sisters: Jean Sept of St. Louis, Marge Kinder and husband Stephen of Poplar Bluff; many nieces and nephews. He will be dearly missed by his family.
Visitation will be held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, August 12, 2023, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Greenville Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm, also in the Greenville Chapel. Burial will be in Grassy Friendship Cemetery, Grassy, MO. Online condolences can be made at www.rueggfuneralhomes.com
